Chris Kelly half of 1990s Kris Kross rap duo dead at 34

(CNN) Chris Kelly one half of the 1990s rap duo Kris Kross died Wednesday at an Atlanta hospital after he was found unresponsive at his home. He was 34.

How Kelly died isn't known and the Fulton County Medical Examiner's Office said an autopsy is planned for Thursday.

Kelly together with Chris Smith shot to stardom in 1992 with Jump which spent eight weeks on the Billboard Hot 100.

Going by the stage name Mac Daddy (with Smith known as Daddy Mac) the pair was known for wearing their clothes backward during performances.

Rapper Da Brat was shocked by Kelly's death. She had performed at a 20th anniversary party for producer Jermaine Dupri's So So Def label in February where Kris Kross reunited for one night.

Kelly and Smith were 13 year olds when they were discovered in 1991 at an Atlanta mall by Jermaine Dupri.

The duo followed up their smash Jump with the single Warm It Up. Together the songs pushed their debut album Totally Krossed Out to multiplatinum status.

Next came 1993's Da Bomb. But the album failed to find the following of the duo's debut in large part because the boys had hit puberty and they were marketed with a tougher image.

Their career never again reached the heights of their debut but they continued to make music.

In 1996 the duo released the album Young Rich and Dangerous.

Why Amanda Bynes is not eligible for conservatorship while Britney Spears is

LOS ANGELES Even though it seems former actress and child star Amanda Bynes is unraveling before our eyes experts say the now 27 year old retired entertainer doesn't yet qualify for any form of parental or court ordered conservatorship.

The star has been spotted wandering strangely around New York City shaving half her head tweeting obscene things about her affection for musician Drake posting videos of herself mumbling in front of the mirror and on Tuesday even tweeting pics of herself in a bra.

Bynes' behavior reportedly has the children in her apartment building scared too.

And while some of her actions are reminiscent of a 2007 Britney Spears whose very public meltdown culminated in her shaving her own head and later led to and still requires a legal conservatorship one court expert tells us there is nothing like that in the works for Bynes.

There are two main standards that courts look at as far as conservatorships. The first is the person a danger to themselves Spears was and demonstrated that often and the second is whether the person a danger to society. Britney Spears was and to her two children as well legal consultant and alternative sentencing expert Wendy Feldman told FOX411's Pop Tarts column. Amanda seems to have a serious mental illness but that does not meet the standard in court. There is no record of suicide attempts or drug overdoses and in public she is a loner.

According to Radar Online Bynes who earned serious cash first as a Nickelodeon star and later in other films shows and even with her own clothing line demanded access to her millions a few months ago. The money had been put away in investments by her parents and lawyers while she was growing up in an effort to secure her future. But now she's apparently spending without limitation.

TheRichest.org has Amanda Bynes listed with a net worth of $8 million.

Amanda doesn t qualify for an involuntary emergency commitment in New York because she s done nothing that is likely to result in serious harm to self or others. You could say she s acting like a typical New Yorker making goofy videos wearing odd hairstyles talking to herself staying up all night tweeting and spending money like water. It s a free country said attorney Larry Bodine of Lawyers.com adding that there is no legal action her parents can take.

And just last month Bynes was in the headlines for being escorted from a gymnastics class in New York City after she broke down crying when he wig fell off during a cartwheel and posting Twitter photographs of herself in everything from blonde wigs to blue lipstick.

She has made one smart decision though a source added. She got off the roads in Los Angeles and moved to New York where she can take the subway and not endanger others.

Bynes is still not in clear in California where her driving began in March last year when she was stopped by L.A. police for talking on her cell phone while driving arrested and charged for driving under the influence after side swiping a cop car and was accused of hit and run in two separate accidents.

Bynes's parents still based in California could not be reached for comment.

Were all devastated Americans killed in 747 crash mourned

Family members in Michigan mourn the loss of crew members killed in cargo plane crash near Bagram Airfield in Afghanistan. WDIV's Chauncy Glover reports.

Jamie Brokaw was an experienced navigator who was no stranger to dangerous flying situations and had the skills to stay cool in the face of danger according to close friend Chris Connerton.

He was a very good person and very smart person Connerton told The Associated Press by telephone from Rochester Minn.

Brokaw 33 of Monroe Mich. was among seven Americans killed Monday when their National Air Cargo plane crashed near an Air Force base in Afghanistan. Six of the victims were from Michigan and a seventh was from Kentucky said Shirley Kaufman National Air Cargo vice president.

Connerton said Brokaw was a key reason he was able to make it through flight school in Jacksonville Fla. where they met.

Connerton also described a harrowing flight two years ago from Toledo Ohio to an international flight expo in Lakeland Fla. Connerton said ice had built up on the plane to the point that he could no longer get it to climb.

If it wasn't for Jamie's navigation and know how ... we wouldn't have made it Connerton said.

Killed along with Brokaw in the Afghanistan crash were Gary Stockdale 51 of Romulus Mich. pilots Brad Hasler 34 of Trenton Mich. and Jeremy Lipka 37 of Brooklyn Mich. first officer Rinku Summan 32 of Canton Mich. loadmaster Michael Sheets 36 of Ypsilanti Mich. and maintenance crewman Timothy Garrett 51 of Louisville Ky.

Building model planes and working on real ones comprised Stockdale's passion filling the family's basement with models in his youth jumping into aviation as a career at age 16 and later working at two Detroit area airports.

Stockdale also knew the dangers of flying his older brother said Tuesday.

He always said it was dangerous said Glenn Stockdale 55. He would always say 'You either will die in a car crash or a ball of flame in a plane.'

Gary Stockdale 51 of Romulus Mich. was killed in a cargo plane crash on Monday.

Lipka had flown in Iraq as well as Afghanistan and had close calls before said his stepfather Dave Buttman.

There was risk there all the time. He knew the risks. He volunteered to take the trips Buttman told the Star Tribune of Minneapolis. Basically you're taking your chances flying in there and he was just happy to be one of the pilots to do it.

The Dubai bound Boeing 747 400 operated by National Air Cargo crashed just after takeoff Monday from Bagram Air Base around 11 20 a.m. local time the National Transportation Safety Board said in a statement Tuesday.

The accident site is within the perimeter of Bagram Air Base.

The Taliban quickly claimed responsibility for downing the plane but NATO said the claims were false and there was no sign of insurgent activity in the area at the time of the crash.

The Afghanistan Ministry of Transportation and Commercial Aviation is leading the investigation. The NTSB is investigating the crash alongside the ministry. The team will be composed of three NTSB investigators as well as representatives from the Federal Aviation Administration and Boeing the NTSB said.

Kaufman said the plane owned by National Airlines an Orlando Fla. based subsidiary of National Air Cargo was carrying vehicles and other cargo.

Elena Garrett of Jeffersonville Ind. just across the Ohio River from Louisville said ex husband Timothy Garrett would have turned 52 on Saturday. They have two daughters together ages 11 and 12.

We're all devastated Elena Garrett said about his death. We were still best friends. He's the best father I've ever seen (and) ready to help anybody. He would give the shirt off his back for anybody.

Bill Hasler said his family learned Monday morning that his brother Brad was one of the crash victims.

Brad was a wonderful father to two young children a beloved husband to a wife who is expecting another child a loving son and the most loyal and supportive brother I could have ever asked for Bill Hasler said in a statement. His influence in the lives of all of us who loved him is immeasurable and our grief is indescribable.

National Airlines was based until recently at Michigan's Willow Run Airport west of Detroit. It carries cargo both commercially and for the military Kaufman said. She said the company employs about 225 people.

Summan had worked 2 years for National Air Cargo said his wife Rajnit Summan.

Rajnit Summan said she last spoke to her husband Sunday.

I told him to be safe she said.

Amanda Knox says what happened to her could have happened to anyone

SEATTLE Amanda Knox says in an interview that what happened to her was surreal but it could have happened to anyone.

The Seattle native told ABC News' Diane Sawyer in an interview airing Tuesday night that I want the truth to come out. I'd like to be reconsidered as a person.

In March Italy's highest criminal court overturned Knox's acquittal in the 2007 murder of British student Meredith Kercher and ordered a new trial for Knox 25. Italian law cannot compel Knox to return for the new legal proceeding.

Knox told Sawyer the high court's decision was incredibly painful and she felt as if she had to crawl through another field of barbed wire after reaching what she thought was the end.

She said she was aware of being labeled a seductress she devil and other names in the media but she said they're wrong.

I was in the courtroom when they were calling me a devil she told Sawyer in interview excerpts posted online. It's one thing to be called certain things in the media and it's another thing to be sitting in a courtroom fighting for your life while people are calling you a devil.

For all intents and purposes I was a murderer whether I was or not. I had to live with the idea that that would be my life she said during the interview.

Italian prosecutors have said Knox who was an exchange student studying in Perugia Italy and her then boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito killed Kercher in a drug fueled sex assault involving a third man.

They maintained that the murder weapon was a large knife taken from Sollecito's house. Prosecutors said the knife matched the wounds on Kercher's body and had traces of Kercher's DNA on the blade and Knox's DNA on the handle.

However Knox's defenders said she was innocent and was forced to say things she didn't mean during a lengthy police interrogation. And they said bumbling Italian police contaminated the crime scene producing flawed DNA evidence.

An Ivorian man is serving a 16 year sentence for Kercher's slaying. A new trial also has been ordered for Sollecito.

Knox said she hopes Kercher's family someday allows her to pay her respects at Meredith's grave.

I was stunned by her death. She was my friend Knox said. My friend had been killed and it could have easily been me.

Since returning to Seattle in 2011 Knox has largely avoided the public spotlight in her Pacific Northwest hometown where she is studying at the University of Washington.

Knox said she's a changed person.

I'm not as chirpy anymore she said.

Her memoir Waiting to Be Heard was released Tuesday.

The Following Season 1 Finale Review The Final Chapter Eh

The Following S01E15 The Final Chapter

So how many of you thought Carroll was going to climb out of the rubble like the Shredder at the end of Secret of the Ooze

It's because everything about Carroll's demise seemed to be too impossible too unlikely and too wrong way theatrical in order to make sense. It why I'm going to leave demise in quotes until we get more evidence than dental records from charred remains and the early results of a DNA test. I mean if a vindictive girl from Rosewood can dupe those things anything is possible with Carroll and his sleeper cell followers. And there are days when I think the high school girls on Pretty LIttle Liars are a collective Sherlock Holmes compared to the FBI on this show.

Before we dive into what Carroll's exit means to the series let's discuss another important and much more conclusive end When Parker ended up in that box at the end of the penultimate episode I think we assumed with 85 percent certainty that Ryan Hardy was going to save the day and Parker would be all Oh my hero wrapping her frail arms around his neck. Imagine my surprise.

In a QA with the cast and creators Kevin Williamson said Annie Parisse wanted to go out with a bang and but while she did go out with a bit of theater her death was more of a whimper. While she's mostly been a straight faced jester for most of the series the show tried to build her up a little sneaking the book in at the beginning to throw you dedicating an entire episode to her flashbacks and building a history and motivations only to have her die whispering and for no greater purpose than to serve as a stepping stone along the way to Carroll's hideaway.

Yes we had a lot of fun poking at her inability to point and control a weapon and her special brand of spineless leadership. But this was supposed to be a character who meant something to Ryan (remember their bonding moment in the apartment after Claire got herself kidnapped ) and she basically died in complete contribution to Carroll's plan. She had a little fight in the beginning but disappointingly she was little else than a ticking time bomb for the remainder of her life. Obviously that's the nature of being trapped in a box but even in death Parker had nothing to offer but a reason to add to Hardy's body count. And that generally is not a difficult thing to do.

However Hardy did honor her passing by doing what she was so good at identifying the right thing to do and then doing the complete opposite. Finding out that Hardy and Weston had somehow thwarted a part of Carroll's carefully constructed plan (I'm using a lot of sarcastic quotes today) should've been a boon. Ryan had an extra agent who could hold a gun (already a step ahead of his previous backup) and was willing to shoot with as much abandon as Ryan and Ryan decided that was the moment to start playing by Carroll's rules. Nope he said. I have to do this alone.

Why would Hardy not use the advantage Nothing could be clearer Because he was afraid that if the story didn't go as planned Claire would die If that's actually the case that's something I rationalized later and not at all how I felt during the episode. I was perplexed almost as stunned as Weston seemed to be himself when Ryan discharged his weapon at an agent just so he could do the stupidest of all possible things for that situation.

Though I suppose you can't argue with results. Ryan Hardy did end up putting Carroll in a very awkward if not fatal position. I wasn't impressed with the death and that's what I meant earlier by wrong way theatrics. We made fun of the fire death when it came around during Episodes 2 and 3 because it lacked that Romantic era emotional connection. Setting someone on fire is very dramatic but it lacks a certain personal touch. Emma's murders were all close range and heartfelt accompanied by that gentle shushing. Carroll's murders were also hands on and close range. Pushing Carroll into the fire and then letting explosions incinerate him lacked a certain symmetrical quality. Carroll was supposed to be Hardy's rival the face of his life as a shambles. the being that defined him. And all Hardy did was uneventfully push him into the nearest deathtrap. I'm not saying Ryan should've stabbed him in the gut while they talked about their feelings but there may have been room for a little nod to their being two sides of the purported coin they tend to discuss so much. Besides no one dies from being stabbed in the gut on this show.

So what does Carroll's exit do For starters The Following has eliminated its big bad without establishing a new one. Basically it means there's a cult of followers that has no leader. What those cult members will do without someone to remind them that death is pretty presents three options disabuse them of their worship beg for them to shift their obsessive devotion to a new leader or inspire the orphaned followers to continue with his work in the name of their fallen martyr. So far with Molly getting all stabby on Hardy and Claire in the last scene it looks like it might be the latter. Another gut stabbing to a character that really can't die. Seriously no one can die from a gut wound on this show can they

The finale presents an interesting challenge for a show that's sold itself as a cat and mouse game between a couple of animals that are really mediocre at toying with each other. The cliffhanger was unique in not addressing that problem but simply showing that violence will still happen whether Joe orders it or not. There was no newly annointed villain or torch passing. Molly's presence just reminds everyone that the cult members still being at large is a danger to them all especially since if Emma's reaction to in Mobile and Molly's continuance are any indication they all seem to be real mad.

So that's season 1 of The Following. Thanks for sticking it out for the first fifteen episodes with me despite the show's attempts to turn us away. You've made this a lot of fun.

NOTES

You can tell when Williamson writes a script because all of a sudden everyone on the show is preempting any criticism about the story by making the characters announce it first. Claire calling Joe predictable and Ryan saying the ending is overwrought give yet another indication that the writers on this show know what they have. Williamson is a grade A thunder stealer.

When will people on this show stop trying Ryan He's given them every reason to believe that he will shoot maim and torture anyone he thinks will hinder him yet the sniper was like You won't hurt me. Yes. Yes he will. This show is almost more of an advocate for enhanced interrogation than anything 24 did.

So Claire is apparently noble Did you catch that about her at all during this series How she was always thinking of others when she got kidnapped so she could see her son Or how she was always taking care of people when she was yelling at Ryan They really tried to drill noble into us but I keep remembering harpy.

Joe Carroll the serial killer trying to shrink Claire's head while he held her captive trying to tell her how powerful denial can be and how everything is not her fault felt like a cuckold being reassured by an adulterer. I understand the impulse but it's so wrong.

That said probably the best line of the season was Carroll demanding that Claire not shoulder any responsibility for the deaths of those he killed because that steals from how special they are to him. I earned them. I own them. They are mine. It was the one time since the pilot where you felt like this guy really was a killer and not just a bookish boss of the world's most eclectic and ineffectual mob.

The Curse is a really dumb title for Carroll's book. What a hack.

Until I was told I had no idea that the girl in Mobile was Emma. This show really tests my facial recognition.

Murder Mystery Amanda Knox Speaks

Amanda Knox convicted of murdering her British roommate Meredith Kercher has nightmares and traumatic memories of her four years in Italian courts and prison. But she has only warm memories of Kercher and says she would like to visit her grave one day.

Knox talked about Kercher as well as her legal ordeal in an exclusive interview with ABC's Diane Sawyer. Her recall of those years has moments of regret anger and sadness. Also among her emotions are warm thoughts of Kercher and empathy for her family.

I want them to know Knox said getting emotional their grief has my every respect has the respect of my family and we just don't want to... we don't want to invade their life and their grief.

And I really want them to understand that my need for justice for myself is not in contradiction with theirs she said.

Knox recalled her short time a mere six weeks with Kercher who was also studying in Perugia.

She talked about how she wanted to be a journalist like her dad. And she talked about her sister. And if that's all I can give them is this memory that I have of her to add to... all of theirs that they can carry with them when she's gone.

Knox paused at that point and added I hope that eventually I can have their permission to pay respects at her grave.

The Kercher family has made it clear they believe Knox is involved but Knox's father Curt told Sawyer that he hopes the families can meet some day. I would like to see them when they clearly clearly understand that Amanda had nothing to do with the loss of their daughter.

The Kercher family has spoken only rarely in public about Meredith's death but today her sister issued a statement saying they do not intend to read Knox's new memoir Waiting to Be Heard.

Meredith is the victim and we are waiting to be heard her sister Stephanie Kercher said.

Knox is still battling to convince the Italian judicial system and the world of her innocence. After nearly six years Knox with her freedom back on the line after a recent Supreme Court ruling ordering a new trial is breaking her silence for the first time.

I want the truth to come out. I want misunderstandings to be looked at. I would like to be re considered as a person Knox said.

In Waiting to Be Heard Knox writes about her conviction life in prison acquittal and how she has changed.

I have been in an experience where I thought everything that I had hoped for in my life was taken away from me and I had to redefine what mattered. And when I think about the purpose of what I wrote I think about what I would tell my little sisters about how to live no matter what's stopping you she said.

Knox's journey to study abroad in Perugia Italy in 2007 was care free for only a six weeks before Kercher was murdered on Nov. 1.

Kercher had 47 wounds on her body the deepest being a fatal slash to her throat. There were signs that Kercher who was trained in karate fought hard for her life.

I was stunned by her death completely bowled over because it was unfair. She was my friend and I lost a friend Knox said to Sawyer.

Now nearly six years later Knox concedes she is not the same person she was before the ordeal began when she was 20. She thought her own personal hell was over when an Italian appeals court threw out her conviction and she came home to Seattle in 2011. But even before this latest ruling the toll taken on her has been obvious.

My family was expecting the old Amanda who was she makes goofy faces which was the old Amanda back. And I'm not quite as chirpy anymore.
