TALLADEGA Ala. It's NASCAR race day at Talladega Superspeedway and we've got some essential information you need to get ready for today's Aaron's 499.
START TIME Former Atlanta Braves star Chipper Jones will give the command for drivers to fire their engines at 12 55 p.m. Eastern (11 55 a.m. local time). Following a few pace laps led by University of Alabama quarterback A.J. McCarron in the pace car the drivers will take the green flag at 1 07 p.m. Eastern. So if you want to skip the pre race show and just turn on your TV for the start of the race tune in at 1 07 p.m. Eastern.
RACE DISTANCE The Aaron's 499 is actually not 499 miles as convenient as that would be. The field will race 188 laps around the 2.67 mile Talladega Superspeedway which is a total of 500.8 miles.

NATIONAL ANTHEM Robin Meade of HLN fame will sing the anthem before today's race. This is her third time singing the anthem.
TV/RADIO SCHEDULE FOX will broadcast today's race and has a pre race show beginning at noon ET. The Motor Racing Network (MRN) will call the race on the radio.
WEATHER Very iffy. After persistent rain on Saturday more scattered showers and cool temperatures are expected for most of the day. There's a chance the race may be delayed or even postponed.
LAST TIME One year ago Brad Keselowski won his second career Talladega race beating Kyle Busch to the finish line. And the last time NASCAR visited Matt Kenseth won the Chase race as a multi car wreck marred the finish.
STARTING LINEUP Qualifying was rained out which means the lineup was set based on practice speeds from Friday. Carl Edwards was the fastest so he'll start on the pole (which isn't an official pole for the record books).
